The culinary scene in Waterkloof

Posted on Wed March 21, 2018 in Facilities.

If you consider yourself a foodie or a wine connoisseur, you’ll love the bustling foodie atmosphere our little part of Waterkloof has to offer. With its fine dining restaurants, traditional eateries, and of course – the vibrant culinary scene that can be found right here in our dining room – you’ll be sure to get your fill of deliciousness when you stay at Mont d'Or Bohemian House.

There are many different ways to have good culinary experiences. Enjoying the taste sensations put together by the best chefs in the business is one thing, but sometimes making a nice, hearty meal at home is just good – or even just enjoying a simple – yet delicious –  traditional braai with friends. Yes, when it comes to eating well and experimenting with new tastes, we have many options, but options don’t always make things easier – especially if you’re not familiar with the area.

When you’re travelling, there isn’t always time to shop for – and make – healthy, hearty food. You might think that this is a good time to experience a new culinary scene, but which TripAdvisor reviews do you trust? Everyone’s tastes and frames of reference are different, how do you know you’re reading the blog of a true foodie?

Well, at Mont d'Or Bohemian House your host, Francois, is a true foodie. He has a fantastic knowledge of local cuisine, cooking methods and the places to experience them. Francois can make great restaurant recommendations for you, based on your preferences and previous experiences. Getting a seat at the next up and coming hotspot is as easy as a quick chat with him.

Some of Francois’s recommendations in the area:

Brasserie de Paris

High quality French based fine dining in a unique physical context."

Pachas Restaurant

“Upmarket space for classic South African and international fare, with seafood, venison and steaks.”

Kream Brooklyn

"Global cuisine with a South African twist, plus sushi and whiskies, in a modern, stylish space."

Unfortunately, travelling foodies don’t always have the time or energy to dine out. If you find your self in that situation while staying with us, you’ll be happy to know that Francois is also a great chef. He loves spoiling guests with salmon omelettes for breakfast, delicious Karoo lamb for dinner and basically anything you can think of for lunch. Francois enjoys getting creative in the kitchen, so if you have any requests or even just ideas, be sure to mention it to him. Who knows – it might even become a menu item soon!

Whatever your tastes and preferences, we hope that you will find the food, recommendations and dedicated service at Mont d'Or Bohemian House nothing less than magnifique. And if you feel like treating yourself just that little bit extra, why not get a look at our men’s and women’s spa menu here. We’re always running specials, so keep an eye out for some post-dessert relaxation.
